Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Darrell Carpenter graduated with honors in business administration from the University of Florida in 1977. After completing his football career as a four-year letterman and co-captain of the Gators, Darrell was recognized with a National Football Foundation Award and received a prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship. He entered the College of Law at UF in 1978 and received his Juris Doctorate in 1980.
Upon graduation, Darrell relocated to Orlando and began his legal career with the law firm of Wells, Gattis, Hallowes, P.A. In 1982, the firm formally became known as Wells, Gattis, Hallowes and Carpenter, P.A. After the retirements of Don Gattis and Wally Hallowes in 2002, Darrell joined his long time friend and noted trial lawyer Roy B. “Skip” Dalton, Jr. to form Dalton and Carpenter, P.A. The firm enjoyed great success and professional recognition. Mr. Dalton was appointed and confirmed to the United States District Court in 2011. In 2014, Darrell joined Mooney Colvin.
Darrell has over 30 years of experience in the litigation of complex civil matters in state and federal courts. He has worked extensively in the area of automobile, motorcycle, truck and tractor trailer accidents, aviation cases, products liability, premises liability, professional negligence and insurance disputes of all types where serious injury or death have occurred.
Darrell is “AV Rated” by Martindale- Hubbell and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. In addition to authoring portions of trial practice books published by the Florida Bar, Darrell has lectured and participated on the faculty of continuing education programs sponsored by the state and local bar associations. In addition, he has served the legal community as a Chairman of the OCBA Lawyer Referral Service and Chairman of Grievance Committee D of Florida Bar.
Darrell is married to Orlando native Ritsy Pierson Carpenter and they have four children. They are active members of the First Presbyterian Church of Orlando.
